Superman Returns Moon Over Broadway Old Vic Theatre
Beyond The Sea News Archives Calendar

January 17, 2010

Kevin tweeted on Twitter and posted to Facebook last night that he has been traveling to LA, NYC, London and will be heading to China soon.

There seems to be some question about whether he is really on Facebook and which Kevin Spacey on Facebook he really is. Yes, he is really on Facebook. He took over one of the fan-started Kevin Spacey's and is now that Kevin Spacey himself.

The real Kevin Spacey on Facebook

Watched Moon last night. I enjoyed it. The company that released it should have had a competition to get people into the theaters to see it when it was out. There could have been a fabulous prize for whoever correctly guessed how many times Kevin said the word "Sam". People would have been forced to see it more than once since they'd have forgotten they were counting.

January 16, 2010

Wow. I can't believe how long it's been since I updated the site! Let's see... Kevin's play ended. He went on vacation.

Moon is available on home video now. I rented it from Netflix. Gonna watch it tonight during the chat if anyone else wants to join me. 9pm EST in the chat room. Link on the map page. Entertainment Weekly says that Moon is probably going to become a cult classic.

I need a fantastic new picture for the entrance page. I'll have to go through my old magazines and find one. One of the (few) complaints that I receive about the current one is that it doesn't look like Kevin Spacey. I disagree. I think it does. Granted, it's a few years old but it's not like he's not recognizable in it.

November 11, 2009 Still haven't scanned the picture from last week and now will have to add the artsy drawing that accompanied the review in the Washington Post on Friday morning. The reviews have been mixed but the critic for Entertainment Weekly said that Kevin wore the worst hairpiece of his career in "Goats" which obviously means the critic never saw Edison.

Kevin told his Facebook followers that he quit smoking back in June. Congratulations and good luck with that, Kevin.

November 1, 2009 There is a picture of Kevin from the upcoming Men Who Stare at Goats in today's issue of the Washington Post Magazine. Color pic, page 53. I do take exception to the fact that the accompanying mini review says that the movie stars George Clooney, Ewan McGregor and Jeff Bridges. Kevin's name is only listed at the very bottom where it says who is in the picture. I'll scan it later today.

I recently noticed that I never changed the address for the polls when I switched host companies. I'll try to fix those this week. Maybe start a brand new poll.

October 24, 2009 Good grief, I had no idea it had been so long since I had updated the site!

I have been seeing TV commercials for Men Who Stare At Goats. Looks pretty funny. Kevin looks a bit like Hitler. I am guessing that this is part of the plot.

Kevin is currently in London performing in Inherit The Wind at the Old Vic Theatre. Unfortunately I won't be able to go to London to see it. Maybe he'll come back to the US and do another play here.

Tonight there will be a SHRINK movie chat at the site chat room. 9pm or thereabouts. I don't know if we'll be doing a special Halloween movie chat next week. Christmas seems to have come to all the stores around here already, so maybe The Ref would be appropriate for Halloween!

Driving Mr. Spacey! will be 9 years old on Monday. That is so hard to believe.

August 13, 2009  -  A few updates. We'll get to Kevin in a minute but first and more importantly, when I got home from work last week, mixed in with the junk mail and catalogs was an envelope addressed to me and the site. It had been metered at the Old Vic so you know what that means.

Spacey mail!

The handwriting was not Kevin's but I still didn't want to damage the envelope so I opened it with a knife. Inside was a small cream colored note card with "The Old Vic" embossed in silver in the corner and in glorious blue ink, a handwritten message from Kevin Spacey addressed to the fans whose names were on the annual DMS birthday card! Along with a thank you for his unique one-of-a-kind, only one like it in the world, secret message birthday tie. There was a paperclip indentation at the top and, oh, you probably want to see it for yourself. Here you go.

What a nice surprise. The writing is an interesting mix of caps and lower case, as someone told me. What means I have no idea. I guess it was just an observation.

Now on to Kevin. SHRINK is in very limited release right now. If you can catch it in the theater, please do. If not, it's going to be released on DVD at the end of next month.

I'd read somewhere that a cast addition had been made to Inherit The Wind but it hasn't been posted on the Old Vic site yet and I can't recall the name. Someone will no doubt remind me.

This next is new - From the BBC Radio press office web site.

The Pickerskill Reports
Friday 28 August 1/4
11:30am-12noon BBC RADIO 4

Ian McDiarmid stars as Dr Henry Pickerskill, the retired English master of Haunchurst School for boys, in a new series of The Pickerskill Reports, which also features cameo performances from Kevin Spacey, Joss Ackland and Peter Bowles.

More info found at the following link. Scroll down the page to find it. Don't know which of the 4 eps kevin would be in. Thanks, redsman.

July 21, 2009 - Don't forget. Kevin will be on Letterman tonight and is scheduled for The View on Friday morning. TV listings indicate he's advertising Shrink which opens on Friday in NY and LA.

July 9, 2009 - Kevin is rumored to be on Letterman on July 21. Thanks to Joanne.

Kevin's birthday card and very special gift from the fans at Driving Mr. Spacey were mailed to him at the Old Vic a few days ago.

June 29, 2009 - Kevin is now filming in New Orleans.

I will be mailing the birthday card and very special gift on Monday. If you have sent me your name for the card, it has already been added. If you haven't, you have another week to do so.

June 7, 2009 - Ten years ago, Kevin was starring a Broadway production of The Iceman Cometh. This caused quite a sensation among his fans and many went to see him and then shared their experiences and photos with the rest of the fans at the message boards, fan sites and email groups.

I had tickets to see him the night after the Tony awards (for which he had been nominated) and we drove up to NYC on Sunday morning. You can read all about it here:

My trip to see Iceman in 1999

I hate looking at some of the early sections of the site. I see so many things that need to be done over and better!

June 6, 2009 - Kevin has announced that he has withdrawn from the Tony awards tomorrow night.

You can own one of Kevin's ties! Pictures are up and to the right!

Kevin signed and donated an Armani tie to be auctioned for charity. You can read about the organization and find a link to the auction here: www.CareerGear.org

The auction ends June 14, 2009 at 11:59pm EST.

Don't ask me why but while some people have been able to access DMS today, others get nothing but a blank screen and an error message saying that Driving Mr. Spacey has been suspended. I'm trying to find out how it can be offline and online at the same time. Could it have something to do with DNS servers?

June 5, 2009 People tell me that everything was *not* working as the site was offline briefly last night. I hope this isn't going to be a recurring problem every time I update the site!

The site link for Kevin's upcoming Shrink movie: http://www.shrinkthemovie.net/

The only thing there so far is a link for viewing the trailer which requires QuickTime 7 to view.

I've updated the Old Vic Theatre news page with a very brief bit of info on their new season. Link found in the black box above.

Kevin's been golfing for his current movie role. Golfing

I saw a commercial on BBC America last night for a new talk show starring Jonathan Ross. Perhaps Kevin may show up there some day in the future?

June 4, 2009 - I moved the site last week but was only offline for a brief time so many may not have realized the site had been moved. Everything seems to be working.

Kevin tweets that there will be an announcement tomorrow about the next season for the Old Vic. Kevin says he will be in the first play. More tomorrow! I guess I'll have to update the OV news page. It's uh, a few years out of date.

Kevin has been filming a movie in Canada but will be returning to the states to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of our summer of love. More commonly known as "On Sunday, it will be exactly 10 years since I went to NYC to see Kevin in Iceman and watched the Tony awards on TV the night before."

If asked, he would no doubt tell you that he is going to be in NYC on Sunday night to present at the Tonys. It's all in the way you look at it!

I think CBS usually shows the Tony awards.

You can read all about the trip back in 1999 in the theatre section of the site.

*A bit of Spacey trivia - Kevin celebrated his 40th birthday at the end of the Iceman run back in 1999.

I am still adding names to his 50th birthday greeting card, so there's still time if anyone wants to add theirs.

May 24, 2009 - I've decided to wait until Tuesday to move the site. I decided a holiday weekend might not be the best time to be dealing with problems that arise from doing that!

Fans have asked me how to find Kevin on Twitter. He is here: http://twitter.com/KevinSpacey

Kevin is currently filming Casino Jack and it has been announced that he will be doing Catalonia with Colin Firth. I don't know when that starts filming.

May 19, 2009 - I'm going to be moving the site on Sunday so it will probably be off the air for at least a few days afterwards.

This morning I was reading Kevin's tweets from last night and I was getting annoyed. Good thing tweets can't be long because it forced me to keep my own tweet to KS to the point. Or to one of the points anyway! It will probably get lost in the crush of tweets he gets but I hope he reads it if he comes across it.

I'm going to go mow the lawn before I get the urge to write an open letter to Kevin right here where I'm not limited to 140 characters only!

I wanted to let everyone who has so far sent their name in for inclusion on the annual birthday card, that I have their names.

May 14, 2009 - Liked Kevin's red socks last night when he was on Leno.

May 9, 2009 - Spacey fan Linda tells me that she read a snippet that says Kevin has left the William Morris Agency and will now be with Creative Artists Agency. If this is so, the WMA address will no longer be a valid address for writing to him.

May 6 - Spacey fan Linda tells me that Kevin is supposed to be on The Tonight Show w/Jay Leno next week on the 13th. This is also showing up on TV NOW.

The Norman Conquests have 7 nominations for the Tony Awards. Big Thanks to Kevin himself for tweeting everyone the news.

May 2, 2008 - KevieBear has a new look to his web site these days. Plus I've added a new (short) adventure there instead of to the site here. www.keviebearsjourney.com

Listen up Spacey fans. Kevin's birthday is in less than 3 months.

April 27, 2008 -

Kevin has been travelling around accepting various honors and awards. His trip to the Washington, D.C. area over the weekend for one honor didn't make the local DC paper, but there was the following snippet in today's Washington Post, The Reliable Source columns:

HEY ISN"T THAT...???

Kevin Spacey and a bunch of business types lunching Saturday on the patio at Stars restaurant on P Street, where he signed autographs and posed for pictures. The Academy Award winner is playing Jack Abramoff in a new biopic: he visited the convicted lobbyist Friday at Cumberland Federal Prison.

The snippet included a tiny b/w picture of Kevin next to a tiny picture of Abramoff looking like Charles Grodin in a fedora.

One item I read about the film is that it's title is to be 'Casino Jack' which is Abramoff's nickname.

Kevin's upcoming film 'Moon' got a brief mention in last week's Entertainment Weekly. No picture of Kevin accompanied the mention.

April 19, 2009 -

Kevin tweets that he's going to be on the Today show on Tuesday morning during the 8:30 hour which I presume to mean between 8:30 and 9am EST. Just a guess on my part.

I'm going to be making some changes to the site here and there as I have some time in the next 6 weeks in preparation for attempting the site without FP Extensions in June.

April 2, 2009 -

I never thought I could hate a commercial more than those astonishingly annoying "cavemen" commercials until I was watching TV one night recently and was bombarded with the most grating commercials I have ever been exposed to. They're for Comcast. You probably already know which ones I mean. They feature people and singing in a monotone. I kept having to mute the sound every time one came on. And to make the torture worse, they're even on the radio. I've been taking to turning off the car radio whenever one comes on and changing the channel when I'm watching TV. I'm not sure that's the effect they were going for!

Kevin tells us that he's going to be doing another film called Father of Invention. A Triggerstreet production.

April 1, 2009 - Announcement on the future of Driving Mr. Spacey! - As some of you know, my web host has informed me that as of July 1, the program that I use for the site will no longer work with their service. I'm looking at having to start DMS over from scratch due to the fact that the program I use is nearly obsolete and I'm having trouble finding a new web host that will be compatible. The site is very large and I don't know how to use any other program so to start over would be very time consuming. So sadly, I'm afraid that when my hosting agreement runs out in June, that may be the end of Driving Mr. Spacey!.

It's been a fantastic run of over 8 years but things come and go and times change. I'm sad that this all is happening just when Kevin is having a big birthday, but hey, them's the breaks. I've been trying to figure out what to do for his birthday this year and I have one idea. I've put it on another page. You can check it out and let me know what you think.

Birthday 2009

March 30, 2009 -

Do you TWITTER? As of yesterday, officially Kevin does. He had about 3300 followers at lunch time today. Kevin on Twitter

KevieBear is also on Twitter. He's very cutting edge as anyone will tell you.

New commercials Kevin may be the voice of Honda in the U.S. but he's now the face of American Airlines in the U.K.! You can see the commercials online here.

TV Spot NEW! Kevin will be on Tavis Smiley next week. Probably Monday the 6th. Check for the time in your area on the PBS web site. Thanks Molly.

March 11, 2009 -

Congratulations to Kevin - According to PLAYBILL, Kevin is going to be presented with the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center's Monte Cristo Award in recognition of his distinguished accomplishments and contributions to the American and international theater community. April 26th in New York City. More at the following link.

Playbill News: Kevin Spacey to Receive Eugene O'Neill Theater Center's Monte Cristo Award

Movie Chat - Swimming With Sharks, a fan favorite. If you have the DVD with the commentary by Kevin, even better. Saturday night at 9pm in the site chat room.

March 2, 2009 -

I've been out of touch because my father had a double bypass earlier in the week but he's home now and doing very well and I've almost got enough energy to check the site mail. Or I will until I go outside and start shoveling all that snow we got last night and this morning! Hope to update the site this evening.

February 21, 2009 -

It's that time of year again. Time for me to make my Oscar predictions based on nothing due to the fact that I haven't seen any of the movies.

Actor in a Leading Role - They'll go for either Richard Jenkins for class and dignity or Mickey Rourke for a wild and crazy choice.

Actor in a Supporting Role - Oscar loves a dead man who gave his all for a role so I predict the late Heath Ledger.

Actress in a Leading Role - Everyone expects it will be Kate Winslet but I will say Melissa Leo. Am I the only one who remembers her from Homicide: Life on the Street?

Actress in a Supporting Role - Penelope Cruz because the Academy voters seem to like foreign actresses for this award. Amy Adams for a surprise twist.

Best Director - Everyone says it's going to be the director for Slumdog Millionaire so I predict the Academy voters will go for that Benjamin Button movie that no one I know had any interest in seeing.

Best Film - See Best Director prediction.

February 17,2009 -

Boy, I can't believe how far behind the news I am already this year! I guess I'll just have to start with new news.

Need a shrink? If you are on Facebook, you can be a fan of Kevin's new film SHRINK. Go here: SHRINK

They have some nice photos of Kevin to look at there even if you aren't a member.

*Disclaimer - I used a picture of Kevin holding KevieBear as my Facebook photo on the suggestion of Spacey fan Laura. I am NOT Kevin Spacey, got it?

Complicit In spite of some earlier problems, Kevin's new directorial effort Complicit is on at the Old Vic.

Old schedule page Yes, I do know that I haven't updated the schedule page in a while. Or the polls. I'll try to get to those this week some time.

February 14, 2009 -

Great news for chat fans! I finally removed the Christmas music and picture and movie chat schedule for December 13th off of the chat entrance page! Happy Valentine's Day!

Oh! Did I mention that KevieBear has a girlfriend? I'll introduce her to everyone in a few days.

January 6, 2009 -

#1 - Barcelona, Spain. February 16-20, 2009. Kevin will be appearing at GSMA's Mobile Film Festival as festival host and keynote speaker for the MOFILM Mobile Short Film Festival. Kevin will present the prize for the best short film of 5 minutes or less in length and will participate in an interview on February 19.

Chevrolet is the main sponsor but we won't tell Honda.

BTW - If you have a short film, they've extended their deadline. More info about the festival and a cute picture of Kevin can be found here:

http://www.mofilm.com/press.php

Thanks to Matt for the info.

#2 - Spacey fan Laura shares the following Charlie Rose link with us. You can watch Kevin's old Charlie Rose interviews there. If you are a newer fan, you have a treat in store. If you're an older, er, fan of longer standing, they're still fun to watch again.

http://www.charlierose.com/search/?text=kevin+spacey

#3 - I don't know if Kevin has any plans to attend the Golden Globe awards. I think they are this coming Sunday.

December 31, 2008 -

Now that 208 is winding down, I'm going to make my new year's resolution for 2009.

I will move 2008 to it's own pages in the archives, will start a new page for 2009 and will either update the polls or close the old ones and start a new one.

Happy 2009 Spacey fans!

December 13, 2008 -

Movie chat tonight. The Ref. 9pm EST.

Kevin has been nominated for a Golden Globe for his part in the movie Recount.

November 29, 2008 -

Movie chat tonight. Ordinary Decent Criminal. Next week will be Fred Claus and December 13 will see the return of everyone's favorite,  The Ref.

"Santa was mean to me."

November 22, 2008

I sat down last night to update the site what with all the current movie and theatre news as well as the polls that are backed up and I was going to add some pictures but I was sidetracked when I found out that the elfyourself.com site was back and instead of updating the site I spent more than an hour elfing Kevin instead of myself and I was laughing so much that I got a headache and then was too tired to update the site. I sometimes wonder if Kevin finds himself to be as much fun as we do.

There is going to be a '21' movie chat tonight in the chat room. I've had the movie for months and this will be the first chance I've had to watch it. Anyone is welcome to come by, whether you have the movie or not.

I guess we'll have to schedule a 'The Ref' movie chat in a few weeks for the holidays. Maybe even a Fred Claus chat if anyone is brave enough to buy or rent the film.

November 15, 2008

1) My Kevin-detector must be malfunctioning! Kevin was only an hour away and I never felt a thing.

Today's Washington Post newspaper. Style section. Names & Faces column. Oddly no repeat of the picture of him with Campari, the jet-setting poodle:

End Notes - Spotted: Kevin Spacey (long-sleeved white shirt, gray slacks) sipping a soft drink at the Bar at the St. Regis yesterday.

2) I swore I wasn't going to post it but... Kevin Spacey is O-L-D-E-R than the newly elected president of the United States! Wow! How did that happen?

October 26, 2008

Happy Birthday Driving Mr. Spacey!

October 16, 2008

BREAKING SUPERMAN NEWS!!

Kevin may or may not be in the next Superman installment that may or may not be made by Bryan Singer and may possibly be going in a new direction, possibly with a new Superman. Stay tuned for more details.

The new anniversary special edition multi-disc DVD of L.A. Confidential is not being sold at Target. At least the stores near my own home. This surprises me.

Kevin is still traveling the world going to film festivals. He was also recently in Puerto Rico filming his new movie with George Clooney, according to web reports.

I've gone ahead and put the Halloween entrance picture up that has been used over the past few years to either great response or accusations that it is evil. Personally, I like it.

Here's something surprising. I've updated a few polls! I must admit that many of the old poll responses were automatically deleted before I was able to use them due to the amount of time that had elapsed. I sincerely apologize.

Ten days from now will be the eighth anniversary of the start of Driving Mr. Spacey!. I'll be sure to remind you when the time comes.

I'll probably regret it but I have put the feedback form back up. Please don't spam me this time!

September 21, 2008

There will be a special Emmy night chat tonight in the Driving Mr. Spacey! chat room. We'll watch the telecast, wait for Kevin sightings (we hope he'll be there since he was nominated and so was Trigger Street) and talk about how badly everyone is dressed and how awful the celebrity banter is.

September 13, 2008

In the wee hours of this morning, I was having trouble sleeping and started watching a crime show on the ID (Investigation Discovery) channel. I dozed off near the end and woke up just after the next program started. The TV volume was turned down low but I thought the person talking sounded like Kevin Spacey. A few sentences later, it was very obviously Kevin Spacey. It was something I'd never seen before. A documentary called Uganda Rising. Kevin was the narrator. The ID channel's website has this description: A look at the dire situation in Uganda, centering on the internal conflict between rebel forces known as the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA), the corrupt Ugandan government and the Acholi citizens, especially the children, who are caught in the crossfire.

They have it scheduled for another showing on September 26th at 6am.

September 12, 2008

Spacey fan Vivienne tells me that Telstar is going to be shown at the Times BFI 52nd London Film Festival next month on the 25th and 28th. Times can be found below.

http://www.bfi.org.uk/lff/telstar

Kevin is reported to have been signed to be in a new George Clooney film called The Men Who Stare At Goats. Filming is set to start next month.

As often happens, I'm wishing a very happy co-birthday to Kevin Spacey and his mirror image, KevieBear, a day early.

Only 11 more years and Kevin will be 60!!!

July 20, 2008 Congratulations to Kevin and TriggerStreet productions. Kevin was nominated for an EMMY for his work on the HBO movie "Recount. The movie had 11 nominations. Now I guess we will be hoping this is a televised award and if it is, that Kevin will appear. Kevin has never been nominated for an EMMY. Did anyone else have a flashback to the old commercial with Rita Moreno?

Big week Spacey fans.

Tuesday 7/22 - 21 DVD release
Friday 7/25 - Kevin scheduled to be on The Tonight Show. Sounds like a night for star power. Their listing also shows Triumph The Insult Comic Dog and The Gong Show.
Saturday 7/26 - Kevin's 49th birthday!

This calls for a movie chat. Assuming I can stay awake until 9pm, I think we will have a Special Spacey Birthday Chat. Let's see... how about ... The Big Kahuna! Saturday at 9pm in the DMS chat room.

Spacey fan Carla reminds me that in the fall of 2010, Kevin is to narrate an 8 hour documentary series on PBS called On Record: The Soundtrack Of Our Lives.

July 11, 2008

KEVIEBEAR IN SPACE! Here they are KevieBear fans! The latest installments of KevieBear's Journey.

In KevieBear Hearts Hillary, KevieBear tires of waiting for Kevin Spacey to offer him a job at the Old Vic and decides to go it alone with unfortunate results. And in KevieBear Goes Space-y, KevieBear takes a temporary job while he waits for his big break and is "discovered" by a film producer.

(Pssst. Don't tell anyone but an indie space film thing was shot at the place where I work and KevieBear sold his soul to get onto the set. So you might want to, you know, click on the links in the Space-y story. This was actually an episode of something called Starship Farragut which is based on the original Star Trek TV show. Components of the control panel used in the episode are from the original set on the bridge of the Enterprise. A lot of fun to see up close as KevieBear would tell you.)

~

Oh. There's some Kevin Spacey news too. There's an ad for the DVD release of 21 in the new Entertainment Weekly. The movie will be on DVD and Blu-Ray on July 22. The ad says the 2 disc DVD includes a bonus digital copy of the film which can be played on your PC or PSP. Plus the special features includes 3 behind the scenes featurettes and exclusive to the Blu-Ray disc is a virtual blackjack game.

Now on to the cover of this DVD release. Guess whose face is being used to sell the disc? The face that was rarely seen in ads for the film when it was in the theaters, that's who. Kevin Spacey. He is the Ace of hearts with the other cast members behind him and Lawrence Fishburne is the Jack of clubs. Sadly, Kevin appears to be slightly airbrushed in the ad itself but not so much in the photo of the cover at Amazon.

~

KEVIN'S 49TH BIRTHDAY IS ON JULY 26TH! I guess we know what's coming next year, don't we?

June 29, 2008

There will be a Usual Suspects movie chat on Saturday night in the chat room. Bring your own movie and popcorn. Movie starts promptly at 9:15pm EST.

~

Kevin has been in California filming a new movie called Shrink, about a troubled pot-smoking (what else?) psychiatrist. I can't tell from descriptions of the movie whether it is a comedy or drama. Who can tell from a film synopsis anymore?

~

June 14, 2008

Good news KevieBear fans! KevieBear is about to make a triumphant return. Two new adventures are coming within the week. KevieBear Hearts Hillary and KevieBear Goes Space-y.

The site changed servers and everything appears to be working. That's a new one for *this* site!

Where did I get the picture to the left? It must have come off the Internet in the past few weeks but I don't remember where it came from.

Kevin's new film "21" was the number one film at the box office for it's opening weekend. The new issue of Entertainment Weekly has a 2 page review of the film that includes a small color photo of Kevin.

Due to family health issues taking up a lot of time, I haven't been able to work on my annual April Fools joke for the site tomorrow. BTW, I do apologize to the fan who told me he fell for the joke I put on the Moon news page last year. You remember it, don't you? Something about having to go to the box office to get a ticket to stand at the stage door because of the expected crowds and to make it easier for you, I had a copy of the ticket you could print out. You just had to get it stamped and then you'd click on the link and the page told you it was an April Fool joke? And I was having problems with my site and the link didn't load properly and some people weren't able to see that part of it? This fan told me when he went to the box office they had no idea what he was talking about. I truly am sorry for that. Fortunately, Spacey fans have a wonderful sense of humor. Uh, right?

While we wait for next year, how about a recycled joke? Let's see.. how about this one from 2005? Newer fans may not have seen it.

Kevin can't catch a break in the UK

How did this get past me? One of the UK fans sent me a news item from one of the London gossip rags in which Kevin is accused of standing up a group of fans who "won" him in an Old Vic fundraiser drawing. Apparently he was supposed to play tennis with them one morning but never showed up. One of the women was quoted as saying they went out and bought new tennis outfits and now they all felt like old maids waiting for a date who never arrived. Ouch!

**NOTICE** My web host is giving advance notice that they are changing servers at the end of the week. This means the site will be offline for 48 hours or more. Hopefully the site will be back online and working with few problems fairly quickly after that.

Kevin's new movie 21 opens on Friday as well.

For anyone who has the chat room itself bookmarked and doesn't have to go through the link on the site, Saturday's Beyond the Sea chat has been rescheduled for March 29.

March 22, 2008

Special holiday weekend movie chat for tonight. Beyond The Sea. Bring your own DVD and popcorn to the DMS chat room, 9pm EST.

March 11, 2008

Big sigh I've been informed by the charity that was auctioning off Kevin's jacket on ebay last week, that the jacket and several other celebrity items were the victim of an ebay scam involving a stolen ebay identity and this is why the auction was cancelled at the last minute. The jacket is being auctioned again starting this evening at 7pm (UK time?) and can be found at the same link as below. Bidders will be asked to provide some sort of identification to be pre-approved for bidding. I know that a few of the fans that enjoy this site were bidding on the jacket and I've been assured that this will be a simple process for anyone who wants to try again. www.stores.ebay.co.uk/sense-clothing

21 premier You can watch the live webcast world premier for Kevin's film 21 tomorrow night (March 12 at 7pm PST) by clicking on the link on the 21 web site. http://www.sonypictures.com/movies/21/index.html

Did you know that one of the posters for the movie had a picture of Kevin on the jack card? Why that's not on their web site, I don't know. The movie opens March 28.

Hmm I'm scratching my head over this next one. I was reading last week that the next play Kevin is going to direct himself is a play about the Rolling Stones. Why?

I guess that would be at the Old Vic, but I couldn't swear to that.

March 1, 2008

I guess it's too late to make my annual Oscar predictions. It's also too late for the American Beauty Academy Awards chat I was going to have last Saturday night. Darn! And everyone knows that's my favorite Spacey film. Maybe next year.

Got money?

PRESS RELEASE

Kevin Spacey Donates Signed Versace Jacket to deafblind charity.

Do you fancy wearing clobber from your favourite stars, but think that stealing clothes from their washing lines takes fan-dom too far? Or do you have a lust for the celebrity look but don’t quite have the wallet-power to match?

Do a search for Kevin Spacey and his jacket pops up.

February 13, 2008

Due to time constraints, I'm afraid I've been forced to recycle used.. er, I mean previously viewed.. valentine greetings. Plus I am forced to recycle them a day early.

February 10, 2008

A quick note until I have a chance to update the news later today. Kevin is a scheduled presenter at the BAFTA awards this evening. It will be shown in the US tonight on BBC America followed by 2 repeats. Thanks to Joanne for the reminder. Don't forget to check your local listings in case the times are different in your time zone.

8pm - 10:30pm
10:30pm - 1am
1am -3:30am

And something to read while you wait. A review of Speed-The-Plow sent to me by Spacey fan Andrew who kindly answered my question about the title the other day.

You can also check out the new web site for Kevin's next film "21".

Sigh. Can a hit counter be spammed? Miraculously, there were over 235,000 hits overnight. I have reset the counter to what it was the last time I had logged on to the site yesterday.

*Well, whoever did whatever they did to the hit counter, I've had to remove the counter from the entrance page because the counter went up over a thousand hits just as I was trying to re-publish the change to the entrance page and suddenly I couldn't publish the site with the hit counter on it due to a change made to the page file by "unknown". I guess I shouldn't have mentioned the half million hits. Thanks a bunch whoever you are.

February 6, 2008

The hit counter on the entrance page passed the half million mark this morning. Years ago when I was so excited to see 500 hits, I never imagined the day would come when there would be 500,000.

February 4, 2008

I have finally started a section for Speed-The-Plow however, so far it is only one page. I have also started updating the Old Vic Theatre News page. Link above.

Thanks to Spacey fans Donna and Andrew, I now have an answer to the question I asked a few days ago -

From David Mamet in an interview with the Chicago Tribune on February 19, 1989:

"I remembered the saying that you see on a lot of old plates and mugs: 'Industry produces wealth, God speed the plow.' This, I knew, was a play about work and about the end of the world, so 'Speed-the-Plow' was perfect because not only did it mean work, it meant having to plow under and start over again."

February 2, 2008

It's been longer than I thought since I updated the site! Something for the UK fans - Kevin and the cast of Speed-The-Plow will be on the Richard & Judy show on either Monday the 4th or Friday the 8th. Not sure which. Thanks to Sue and Vivienne.

The play started yesterday and runs through April 26. There are a couple of pictures to be found on the Old Vic web site. www.oldvictheatre.com Does anyone know what the title means?

Did anyone else read the article the other day in which the writer discouraged people from buying tickets before the play had even started because he says the play itself isn't any good no matter who is doing it? Used to be that they'd wait until Kevin's plays started before they told people how bad they were.

I shall try to update some of the polls today or tomorrow. I'm only about... oh, I'd say 4 months... behind. I guess it's too late to start the Christmas 2007 poll.

December 26, 2007

The elves are gone now so I have removed the links. Maybe they will return next year.

KevieBear returns in a short holiday journey vignette! A KevieBear Christmas.

December 15, 2007

MOVIE CHAT!! Tonight and next Saturday, we will be having The Ref movie chats in honor of the holidays. Chat room, 9pm EST.

There is a large, color picture of Kevin and Uma Thurman rehearsing that Nobel concert thing in the new issue of Entertainment Weekly. Page twelve, I think.

Plus, I'm reading that Kevin has an interview and pictures in the new issue of Interview magazine. I couldn't find it on the stands today so it may not be out yet. Thanks to Joanne for that info.

** Just added - Spacey fan Linda tells me that Kevin is one of the questions on the Q&A page of tomorrow's Parade newspaper supplement, along with a small picture. I don't have my Sunday inserts yet so I don't know which picture they use.

And now, on to the annoying fan of the week. Whoever has been spamming the write-in polls with the very long, strange, rambling Spacey related whatever-you-call-them posts, please stop. My only guesses as to the reason for them are:

#1 - You need to adjust your meds.
#2 - You need to spend more time on your homework and less time on the Internet.
#3 - Honestly Kevin, you're too old for this kind of behavior.

December 7, 2007

Sure is cold out there! I don't think we've ever had snow and ice this early in the season before. I could have done without it until February.

I hadn't realized that the link for the Feedback form was still on the Map page until someone emailed me a few weeks ago. I had removed the page quite a while ago due to spamming and never put it back. I wonder how many people were going to use the feedback form to anonymously tell me and/or Kevin Spacey that he deserves to die for treason for meeting with the president of Venezuela but got an error message instead? I have removed the link.

Kevin and Uma Thurman are going to co-host  the Nobel Peace Prize concert in Oslo, Norway on December 11. The concert is scheduled to be on TV on December 13. Thanks to Joni.

Kevin's movie 21 has finished filming.

Triggerstreet is now allowing people to download plays onto their site. That could be interesting. I used to get emails from people who wanted me to produce their plays on the stage and would get testy when I told them I'm not Kevin Spacey and when they'd ask me to do it anyway, would get even more miffed when I'd tell them that I'm not "in the business". Good luck, TS.com! www.triggerstreet.com

November 27, 2007

Wow. I hadn't realized that it had been so long since I updated the news page. As you can see, very little is happening right now!

November 6, 2007

Good news to report to the fans who attend the Saturday night chats. Spacey fan Laura's cat Mickey has turned up safely after being missing for the past month! He went back to their old house where he was spotted by one of the neighbors. He was gone for a month and a day. We know she was very worried and she'll tell everyone all the details at the next chat.

There are several interviews floating around out there that Kevin did for the Fred Claus PR. You can find them here:

Pardon my shouting but,
HEY PEOPLE AT THE OLD VIC! DID YOU KNOW YOU'RE OFF THE AIR?

I apologize for that. Their site has been offline for several days and fans who were looking for tickets to Kevin's next play were becoming concerned. I'm sure they'll be back online very soon.

It would appear that Kevin will *not* be on Leno for my birthday after all due to the strike by the Hollywood writers. Leno will be showing reruns until further notice.

I know, I know. It's all well and good that these people are concerned about sending their kids to college, paying their mortgages and putting food on the table, as well as rightly feeling they should be getting a piece of the action considering how much money networks and producers and studios make off their work so why shouldn't they be pocketing a larger share of the profits. But I have to say it. It's not just about them. Some of it is about me.

What makes you cry at the movies? Kevin's picture was in the Washington Post yesterday and it wasn't the old b/w picture of him with the little poodle that the newspaper likes to drag out every so often. No, this was a very large color picture from American Beauty and was in the Style & Arts section accompanying an article called Watch 'Em and Weep. It was about what makes people cry at the movies and why different people cry at different things and they ponder whether being either male or female makes a difference. They also included some examples submitted by readers who attended an online chat and one of them, a Renee Roberts of Fort Collins, Colorado had this to say:

American Beauty -  "I saw this three times and every single time, had to stay in my seat several minutes because I was not just crying, I was bawling. Even now, just imagining Kevin Spacey saying, 'I can't help but feel grateful for every minute of my stupid little life,' and 'You don't understand now, but you will' chokes me up. How much have I not noticed, how much am I not appreciating because I'm blind and angry and upset about the other things? Why do I only get it in brief glimpses her and there?"

Ok, me here again. I just don't get what everyone else saw in this movie. I saw it three times in the theater too, and I remember the second time trying to read the time on my watch and wondering if this movie was ever going to be over. Another guy in this article was deeply moved by a scene from The Incredibles and yet another was moved by Star Trek: The Search For Spock and another woman found a scene from Terminator 2: Judgment Day to be worthy of some tears. Interesting.

No one mentioned Ordinary People. That one makes me cry from the first note of music at the start of the film. Some guy mentioned the last scene from It's a Wonderful Life when George Bailey's brother says George is the richest man in town. I tend to tear up at the very beginning when all the people who love George are asking God to save George and when George wants to live because if he was never born his family doesn't exist and the scene in Gone With The Wind when Rhett and Scarlett's little daughter has died of a broken neck and Mammy and Melanie are on the stairs and Mammy is crying and.. and the scene in that cheesy Lana Turner movie about the woman and her maid raising their daughters and at the end when the one woman's daughter is crying and throwing herself at the hearse carrying her dead mother and... I can't type anymore. I can't type with two fingers and cry at the same time. I'll have to finish my Spacey related updates later.

November 2, 2007

Check your HBO listings for a show called Fred Claus: HBO First Look. It's a short "making of" type of thing and while he's not interviewed, Kevin is seen in clips from the movie and the making of the movie. It was on last night but was too late for me to post it. I would imagine it will be on again.

Spacey fan Linda reminds me that the possibly looming writers strike in Hollywood, could effect Leno which could mean no Kevin next Friday night.

October 30, 2007

"I despise reindeer." - New Kevin Spacey film quote.

Official Fred Claus web site has a few shots of Kevin. Click on Photos, Video and Cast.

www.fredclaus.net or you can find the site by going to fredclaus.warnerbros.com.

Audio Warning! If you spend more than a few minutes at the site, I promise you that you will be hearing those sleigh bells jingling, ring-ting-a-tingling too. ALL DAY LONG!! I tried to use the Music Off button at the top of the page but instead of silence, I had what sounded like 2 or 3 songs playing over each other.

October 29, 2007

Spacey fan Judith informs me that Kevin is scheduled to be on The Tonight Show (Leno) on November 9th. TV-NOW confirms this. He is just so sweet! Doing a new TV interview just so I can see him on my birthday.

Well... unless he's doing it because his newest movie hits the theaters that day. And that 24 Hour Plays gala thing is two days later. Which I suppose is also possible.

Big thanks to Judith.

October 27, 2007

24 Hours 2007Any day now I'm going to be getting back to work on the Old Vic News page, but until I do: Tickets may still be available for the 24 Hour Plays thing. Cute picture of Kevin on their official e-flyer (to the right). And tickets are on sale for his own next play 'Speed The Plow' and I'm still not sure what it's about and the title doesn't give any hints.

October 26, 2007

Now we are Se7en. Get it? Se7en? Well, never mind. It seemed ironically funny at 5am after a can of Coke and a package of frosted cherry pop tarts for breakfast. In any event, in honor of today being the site's anniversary, tomorrow night's movie chat will be a special party chat. I thought about scheduling Seven, but that's just too gruesome for me right now and we'd have to forward through the entire movie to get to John Doe because quite frankly, the only thing worse than the gore is having to watch and listen to Brad Pitt for almost 2 hours. I'd almost rather sit through Ameri... what am I saying? Back to the subject at hand. No movie scheduled, just Spacey chat if anyone can think of anything Spacey to chat about.

I finally saw a Fred Claus commercial that has Kevin in it. I also heard one of Kevin's Honda ads during the same commercial break. Those were both on TV last night.

October 24, 2007

On Friday, October 26th, Driving Mr. Spacey! will be 7 years old! Are you as amazed as I am?

Kevin is currently in Florida filming 'Recount' for HBO and Fred Claus comes out on November 9.

October 12, 2007

The movie for tomorrow night's movie chat will be Swimming With Sharks.

October 8, 2007

There is a clip of the interview Kevin did, on the BBC site. The bald spot is definitely still there, but isn't nearly as noticeable as it normally would be. Was it causing a blinding flash of light under the studio lights and they had to add a layer of makeup? Or did he undergo some kind of bald spot shrinking procedure while he was in Cuba? I thought it a bit odd that while there was a lot of press attention given to his trip to "the other place" his trip to Cuba had only a very few short mentions.

Go to the BBC site www.bbc.co.uk and do a Spacey search or go directly to the Spacey search page and click on the video link on the right side of the page titled "Spacey 'one day' plays start.

Thanks to Joanne and Michelle.

October 6, 2007

UK Spacey fan Vivienne tells me that Kevin was seen on the news in a taped piece (pre-filmed interview that is, not a toupee taped to his head) talking about the 24 Hours plays and his next play (for which the general public can now buy tickets, btw) and he said he chose London as his home because it is the cultural center of Europe. But more importantly, she gave me a rundown on his appearance which is what many of you were probably wanting to know about. He was relaxed, smiling and looked well but Vivienne says the back of his head "wasn't shining". Hmmmm. Interesting.

I was going to put a new entrance page picture up for Autumn, but have decided to use last year's Halloween themed picture instead. Many fans liked the devilish charm of Mr. Spacey. A few thought I had made him look satanic.

October 4, 2007

The South Bank Show is the name of the UK TV show that was to be following Kevin around while he goes through the day being Kevin Spacey, Artistic Director and filming him for one of their upcoming episodes. Thank you to Richard.

September 30, 2007

Let's see if we can get back on track here. First up we'll address the picture above. I *have* received a few emails about things other than "you know" this past week and this picture is one of them. Fans do seem to be enjoying it. Old-timers will no doubt remember when it first hit the web and someone on one of the old fan lists said it wasn't him because he doesn't have arm muscles, I immediately jumped to his defense and said that was too him, you could see that he was pushing the flat muscle in his arm up with the back of his hand, thereby making it appear he was more muscular.

Kevin will be filming an HBO movie about the Florida vote recount in the 2000 election. He'll be Ronald Klain, Al Gore's former chief of staff. The movie is called Recount.

I was noticing last night that when you click on the link farther down the page that was supposed to take you to an older interview with Kevin in Gotham magazine, it takes you to their latest issue's interview with Jodie Foster. I'm not sure you can access the article online anymore.

September 26, 2007

Ok. Now he's in Cuba. Please see post below for further instructions.

September 26, 2007

So.

I guess everyone knows by now that Kevin met and had a private meeting with Hugo Chavez, the president of Venezuela a few days ago. A very controversial move on his part, it would seem. I’m sure that whatever his reasons were, he never dreamed that it would result in the kind and gentle owner of his biggest fan site who is just barely recovered from being very sick (cough, cough) receiving some very mean-spirited and obnoxious emails.

Now granted, most have been addressed to him. But since he doesn’t read them, it means that *I* am the one who is having to open emails that say he should be executed, that he’s a traitor to his country... you get the idea.

I have no problem with someone emailing the site with their opinions on anything he says or does. Good or bad. Anyone who has been around for a long time knows that I tend to be his toughest critic. I enjoy reading what people have to say. Even the people who think he’s gone crazy and don’t like his politics and swear to never pay to see another one of his movies now.  And I am more than happy to give anyone information on how they might be able to contact him if they want to write something directly to him. But please, don’t send anymore emails to the site’s email addy telling me he should be killed or anything else along those lines.

~

Saturday night's movie chat will once again be The Usual Suspects as we never watched it a few weeks ago.

September 22, 2007

I haven't updated the site lately because I've been sick, but hope to have the polls updated soon.

Tickets are on sale for Kevin's next play at the Old Vic, Speed The Plow, if you are a Friend of the Old Vic. Tickets go on sale to the general public on September 30.

www.oldvictheatre.com

September 11, 2007

The movie for Saturday's movie chat will be The Usual Suspects.

September 8, 2007

Tonight's movie for the chat is The Big Kahuna.

Kevin's supposed to be followed around by a TV crew for some TV show or something in London.
