January 26, 2012 I still
haven't decided what I'm going to do about expanding on to another
site or changing formats but I am currently working on a temporary
site at WordPress.com which is not available for public consumption
yet because I don't know what I'm doing. I'm taking a short course
on using WordPress but so far am only on lesson 3 of 12 so have a
way to go. Once I decide to go public with it, it will be found at
www.drivingmrspacey.wordpress.com
I'll let everyone
know how that goes.
A bunch of Spacey
fan ladies and at least one husband are going to see Richard III
tonight. I hope you all have a fantastic time! Too bad the function
afterwards was cancelled.
Kevin is going to
be a guest at the Hyatt Regency New Orleans on March 10. Not as a
guest of the hotel. He will be a at the Make It Right charity gala
to raise money for the building of sustainable, affordable homes for
families who lost their homes during Hurricane Katrina. The gala
will also promote
sustainable housing in Newark, NJ and Kansas City, MO for disabled
veterans and disadvantaged communities.
Make It
Right
January 16, 2012 For
future reference, I may be starting another Driving Mr. Spacey site
in the very near future as a continuation of this one because of a
publishing problem I am having due to a trojan that messed up some
of the site files. It would be found at either drivingmrspacey.net
or drivingmrspaceytwo.com, I haven't decided which one to use yet.
Probably the .net. This site would still be here at the current address, I just
wouldn't be able to make changes to it which is why I'd have to pick
up where this one leaves off.
Kevin will be
filming his new TV show House of Cards in Baltimore starting in
March. I guess it's called a TV show even though it's supposed to be
filmed specifically for streaming by Netflix. Picture below is from
the Baltimore Sun newspaper last week. I scanned it with my new
scanning wand while laying in bed with tonsillitis.

December 7, 2011
Margin Call will be in the theaters in the UK on January 13. You can
find their UK release Facebook page
here.
I need to stop
updating the news page in the wee hours when I can't sleep. I just
noticed that a few things I've posted lately make no sense. I've
corrected those things.
I saw the Father
of Invention DVD at Target when I was doing some Christmas shopping
a few days ago. I was hoping someone would get it for me for
Christmas but I don't think I ever told anyone. Maybe I'd better
mention it.
According to an
online article, Kevin is supposed to be staying on some fabulously
luxurious and expensive yacht suitable for big parties while he's in
Australia for Richard III. Did anyone else get an invitation for a
party on a yacht? I never got one.
December 4, 2011
If you don't follow Kevin
on Facebook you may have missed the following. A chance to direct
him in your own short film. Be sure to check out the rules and
regulations to avoid disappointment at a later date.

Have some money
laying around and you don't know what to do with it? Say between
$1,250 and $50,000? How about attending the Old Vic New York Benefit
Gala in NYC next month? I'm not sure what type of tickets or size of
tables are still available but according to the letter I received,
you can contact Marianne Carey Hayes at (212)245-6570 Ext 16 or fax
at (212) 581-8717 or email
oldvic@eventassociatesinc.com.
They can tell you
what benefits you get by purchasing individual tickets or
tables.

I have added a new test page that will have some Spacey holiday
videos that I made on JibJab.com. The 80's hair band video is the first one I
did this season and the mouths are not quite where they should be
but enjoyable anyway. Sometimes the videos load, sometimes they
don't. I'll be adding a few more in the next few days.
Tester page.
**I've replaced
the American Airlines commercial above with singing Spacey elves. I
hope it works. If the video doesn't start quickly, try again later.
One time it started immediately and the next time it counted 1
minute and 26 seconds. I'd suggest hitting play and going to get a
cup of coffee. Same with the videos on the tester page if they don't
start immediately. My sister likes this one. At the end of the video
it has a button for making your own at Jibjab but the link takes you
to an error page. So you would want to go to
www.jibjab.com
or
www.elfyourself.com.
November 15, 2011 -
I have updated the Links page. I have added a few newer things and
deleted some old links that are no longer working. if there is a
link that you think should be listed, let me know. I have also made
a few updates to the site FAQ page.
I have also
noticed that the links bars on some of the pages are sending people
to pages that are not connected in the navigation chart for the
site. I'd suggest using the UP button on the tops of the pages to
take you back to the index page instead of using the back and next
link bars until I figure out what is going on.
**I think I have
the navigation link bars fixed now. What a mess. Only about half of
the pages on the Map page were connecting to the next page in the
series so many sections of the site were only available through the
Map page. Kevin's tribute to Jason Robards is now back in the
Theatre section where it belongs as well.
November 11, 2011 - A new
commercial campaign for American Airlines starring you know who
starts on UK television tomorrow but I'm being allowed to offer a
peek of it on Driving Mr. Spacey today. **The commercial had to be
sacrificed to make room for the singing Kevin elves.
I hope it works!
Thank you to Emma. There are a few more smaller spots that you can
find once that commercial plays, btw.

It has been hinted
to me that perhaps I could mention that Richard III is not a one man
show. That there are other actors involved. Well, I guess I could
mention that but why would someone be looking here for information
on other actors and their performing schedules?

Attention all of you fans in the Asturias region of Spain.
Kevin and Richard III will be at the Centro Niemeyer in Avilés next
week from Wednesday (September 28!) through October 1.

Gonna be in Italy in October? Kevin will be too.

September 9, 2011 - What a
horrible month! Mother briefly but unexpectedly in the hospital,
East Coast Earthquake of 2011, Hurricane Irene, Hurricane Lee,
slipped on the marble floor of the lobby at work when I stepped on a
wet spot (and man, am I sore and bruised), lights flickering at
home, losing power at the office, ceiling at the office leaking
during huge rain downpour on Wednesday, lost the flash drive with
all of the files for the site and couldn't update until today
(!!!)... so how are things where you are?
Remember Leo
and Lisa from a few years ago? At least I think it was a few
years ago. Let's say it was a few years ago however long ago it was.
You can watch it
here if you missed it
the first time around. Thank you to Hamish for the link. There are
some other Spacey/Old Vic related videos to be found there too. Very
clear and sharp.
Richard III is
wrapping up at the Old Vic on Sunday and the play is going on the
road. A Spacey fan reminds me that I had not posted that it is going
to be performed next month in San Francisco. Confession time - I
lost her email which she sent me quite a while ago so I don't
remember her name just that she has tickets for October. Thank you
Spacey fan... er, Jane? Julia? Update - Turns
out that was Valerie.
October 19-29,
2011 at the Curran Theatre in San Francisco.
Spacey fan Carla
directed me to a great review of the play. You can read it
here. Thank you Carla.
July 2, 2011 -
There is a
full page article about Horrible Bosses in tomorrow's Washington
Post newspaper. One large picture that does not contain Kevin Spacey
although the painting behind the other people looks like Kevin, a
dog and a woman.
The reporter was
interviewing some of the cast members on a conference call. This is
the only part of the article that mentions Kevin:
---
But
Kevin Spacey plays the most horrible
boss of all: the unethical,
mean-spirited psycho who turns the life
of Bateman’s character into the office
equivalent of daily waterboarding.
Let’s
go back to that conference call.
Day:
Even though Colin Farrell’s character
was willing to let people die in — where
was it, Bolivia? — Kevin Spacey is
definitely the one who does the most
psychological damage to his employee.
Bateman: I may have just been more
effective at playing hurt and vulnerable
than you guys.
Day:
It could all be Bateman’s performance.
Sudeikis: Spacey [is the most
frightening].
Day:
That’s two votes for Spacey.
Bateman, again to reporter: Basically,
just to sum up the answer — and I don’t
mean to write for you but — Bateman is a
knockout.
Hang
on there, Bateman. In an economy where
good jobs are rare, let’s let the
reporter do her job.

Anemic economy

‘Horrible Bosses’ by Jen Cheney.

fun stuff.
I was going to use

as the site entrance picture. Maybe
I'll move this once Horrible Bosses has finished it's run.

Source by Roxanne Roberts and Amy Argetsinger
CELEBVOCATE
Stars - they
have so much to teach us. And pretty much any day of the week,
they're in Washington to tell us how to do better. Tuesday's
visitor: Kevin Spacey.
Setting: Cannon
House Office Building
Cause: A breakfast
kicking off the annual Arts Advocacy Day.
What he wants:
More 2012 funding for the National Endowment for the Arts than the
proposed $67.5 million.
How he looked:
Sleek in a gray suit.
Wingman: A
late-arriving Alec Baldwin, whose flight was weather-delayed.
Hitch: The
congressional committee where Spacey was scheduled to testify had to
cancel because of the larger budget debate, reports our colleague
Jacqueline Trescott, so he used his talking points at the breakfast.
Sound bite: "An
NEA grant isn't about the art itself - it's about our country
sending the elevator back down so that a new creative idea can get a
chance to prove itself."
Whom we passed up
to see them: "Law & Order: SVU" star Tamara Tunie testifying on
child abuse deaths.

2011 is shaping up to be very Spacey. New TV slots swiped directly
from Casino Jack via Spacey fan Joanne at Facebook:
Tuesday night (1/4) - NBC - Late Night With Jimmy Fallon (this is on
right after Jay Leno)
Wednesday (1/5) - Syndicated in the AM - Live w/Regis & Kelly
Wednesday (1/5) - E! - Chelsea Lately (check the listings for that
as it's on several times in the evening.)
Thursday (1/6) - The less said about this the better. I am very
envious of the fans going to see him in NYC.
Pete Postlethwaite, Kevin's co-star in The Usual Suspects and The
Shipping News has died. I always enjoyed watching him.
I
need to go through all of the old movie sections and delete the old
links for official movie sites that are not on the web any longer.
The Shipping news site is gone now but I'd hate for a repeat of the
"ex-Beyond The Sea site is now a porn site" mess to be repeated.
December 19, 2010 -
Happy Birthday to my sister Suzanne who wishes to remain anonymous!!
Last year she was in the hospital having her second surgery in less
than a week and there was a blizzard swirling and now it's been a
year and she hasn't been back in the hospital since. Very good news!
I
missed Kevin on Keith Olberman several days ago and then barely
caught him on the Today show and he has now posted at Facebook that
he has an appearance on Conan coming up fast. I'll have to find out
which day.
There is an article about Kevin in today's Washington Post
newspaper. The Arts section. Usual stuff except for the very large
color picture of Kevin and the smaller still from Casino Jack. I'll
post more about that after I get back from shopping.
December 8, 2010 -
Kevin is scheduled
to be on the Jimmy Kimmel and the Tavis Smiley shows next week. I
assume he's still supposed to be on Kimmy Kimmel next week. He's
showing on their web site for next Tuesday but Kevin has posted on
Facebook that he did the show last night. I'm hoping he filmed
something for later. I've posted the links to both shows on the
site's Calendar page (link in the black box above) so you can check
for times and channels in your area.

- Kevin's
interview at the NYT Arts & Leisure Weekend next month is sold out.
There are no more tickets available.
Tickets for the London production of Richard III at the Old Vic
Theatre go on sale next month. January 31, 2011 on the Old Vic web

The play will also
be at the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) in New York in 2012,
running from January 10 - March 4, 2012 but no date has
been announced for when tickets go on sale.

I have updated the
Calendar page to reflect these new dates.
My
big computer died and hasn't been replaced and I've been doing site
updates using a tiny notebook so can't tell how things are looking
in a more regular size so if anything looks kind of "off" that is
why. My favorite picture program that I used on my old computer is
not usable on the notebook so I haven't been able to make any new
collages so am being forced to recycle old ones. This is why the new
entrance page picture may seem familiar.
Someone emailed me a month or two ago to tell me how her friends had
managed to get her Kevin's autograph after seeing him in person and
I have lost the email and never replied back to her. Was that email
from...Julie or Julia? I'm still trying to find your email, but if I
don't I was going to tell you that this was very exciting news for
you and that you are very lucky and you have nice friends.
November 13, 2010 -
This next bit has nothing to do with Kevin Spacey other than while
I've been searching online for a K-PAX screensaver I have also been
watching E.T. on HBO. I must say that times sure have changed. Mom
leaves 5 year old Gertie home alone (or so she thinks) while she
goes to Elliott's school and tells Gertie to stay in the house.
Today the only way a 5 year old girl would be left alone in a movie
would be because she was going to be kidnapped, murdered or set the
house on fire trying to deep-fry a turkey while her mother runs to
the store to buy some extra cranberry sauce so the mother could be
hauled away by social services leading to a very dramatic courtroom
conclusion as the mother tries to get her child back.
Not long ago I was watching an old Lana Turner/Bob Hope film in
which Bob was a writer living in a new suburban neighborhood which
looked eerily like the neighborhood that E.T., Mom and Gertie lived
in 15 16 or 17 years later. In one very shocking scene, a little
neighborhood girl even younger than Gertie was waiting ALONE IN A
CAR OUTSIDE A SUPERMARKET and Bob comes along and the little girl
GETS OUT OF THE CAR AND GOES INTO THE STORE WITH HIM and when the
mother sees her little girl with a strange man she asks the child
why she wasn't waiting in the car like Mommy told her to! Then, even
though the mom has never met the man before, when the little girl
tells her mommy that she's going to help the man shop, the mommy
says that's ok, that she'll be in another part of the store! Surely
even back in the very early 1960's mom's didn't let their little 4
year olds walk off with strange men. The times weren't *that*
different than they are today.

Now, on to local Casino Jack news. Apparently, Kevin hosted a
special Washington, DC showing of Casino Jack on Wednesday night.
There was a large mention of this in today's Washington Post Style
section.
The Washington Post
Style, page C2
The Reliable Source
by Roxanne Roberts and Amy Argetsinger
A
jury of their sneers
Opening your
political
Washington movie
in front of a
media-political
Washington
audience?
Pretty much the
definition of
"tough crowd."
That was the
room that
"Casino Jack"
faced Wednesday
at an E Street
Cinema screening
of the Kevin
Spacey-as-Jack
Abramoff flick,
sponsored by the
Creative
Coalition, with
faces like
Andrea Mitchell,
Jane Harman and
Ben Bradlee in
the crowd.
You didn't have
to be a
Pulitzer-winning
expert on the
Byzantine
schemes of the
disgraced former
superlobbyist to
wince at the
Hollywood
embroidery and
hyperbole. Rep.
Bob Ney getting
handcuffed in
the halls of
Congress?
Doesn't work
that way.
Abramoff's
now-defunct
Signatures
declared "the
best restaurant
in town"? Don't
recall that.
They even
botched the
cliched insult:
It's not
"Washington is
Hollywood with
ugly faces,"
it's "Washington
is Hollywood for
ugly people"!
Possibly the
room's favorite
groaner: The
rooftop happy
hour where a
journalist
taunts Abramoff
for his links to
Mariana Islands
sweatshops and
gets slugged in
the face by
another
lobbyist. Next
line: "You just
hit a
hemophiliac
reporter for The
Washington
Post!" (We've
asked around.
Didn't happen.
Sorry.)
There was just
too much,
really, and
moderator Chris
Matthews seemed
too weary to
take it all on
in the
post-screening
Q&A, so he let
Spacey off the
hook with mild
hazing.
"How'd ya get
permission to
shoot on the
Capitol lawn?"
the MSNBC anchor
asked. "That's
not allowed.
HAH!"
"I think we call
it CGI," the
star responded
dryly. "We shot
it all in
Toronto."
The movie was
meant to "shed a
light on a
process that is
a culture," said
Spacey. "When we
look at the kind
of money that
needs to be
raised for
campaigns ...
maybe we can
make some points
about the
hypocrisy" and
inspire some
change.
Well, what kind?
Spacey suggested
that campaign
reform could
begin by cutting
back on costly
ads. The
networks, he
said, could
"decide they
could serve the
public" by
vetting all
campaign ads for
accuracy, and
then "run them
for free."
Huh. "You've
gotten beyond
me," growled
Matthews. "I
don't know how
to do that.
Because of the
First
Amendment."
The mood was a
little flat, as
it's reportedly
been at many
recent "Casino
Jack"
unveilings: The
director, George
Hickenlooper,
died suddenly
two weeks ago in
Denver at age
47. Spacey said
he most
regretted that
Hickenlooper
missed screening
the movie for a
D.C. audience.
"He was finally
being recognized
as a great
filmmaker."
A man in the
audience who
said he was a
friend of
Abramoff's
applauded
Spacey's nuanced
portrayal.
Abramoff wasn't
just a heavy,
"he was dorky,"
the friend said.
"He was a dorky
guy. I thought
you did a
fantastic job."

Just added!
Kevin is going to be on Hardball w/ Chris Mathews
tonight.
Kevin is supposed
to be on Andrea Mitchell's show on MSNBC at 1pm EST today.
A spacey-ish type fan saw it earlier while watching MSNBC. It's supposed to be part of his Casino Jack press. I don't know if
he's live or pre-taped though.
Kevin says (ok, I stole that from a post he made on Facebook)
there's a Trigger Street Productions comic book on the stands at
Wal-Mart starting today. Their tagline is:
"When aliens wipe out Earth’s superheroes, the worlds’ super-villains become mankind’s last hope in defeating the alien invasion."

Hmm. Unusual new

Kevin
was in L.A. yesterday to be a presenter at the BAFTA LA 2010

This would have
been fun for Halloween... 60 minutes of Spacey Brain Picking!
"Last night, Krug hosted the annual Krug Mind Share auction at
Sotheby’s, London, auctioning the world’s greatest Minds from the
fields of finance, business, politics, art and entertainment.
This project brought together individuals who, through a quest for
excellence, ambition and often a maverick spirit have succeeded in
their given field - the very traits that drove Joseph Krug when he
started Krug champagne in 1843. This year, Minds have generously
given up one of their most treasured resources - their time, for
100% of the auction proceeds to be donated to their charity of
choice.
Carphone Warehouse owner, David Ross bought Kevin Spacey for £9k,
with the auction proceeds going to the Old Vic Trust."
I
wonder what I'd want to know from Kevin if I only had 60 minutes to
talk with him? Thanks to Kaydine for that info.

Planning to be in London on November 21 and have some time and money
available? You could go see the 24 Hour Plays at the Old Vic. From
the Old Vic:
A host of
acclaimed actors, directors and writers will generously lend
their extraordinary talent to write and rehearse six short plays
before performing them on The Old Vic stage, all within 24
hours.
It's the
ultimate theatrical challenge that culminates with an exclusive
post show party for our valiant participants.
The artists
donate their services to The Old Vic so the final cast, which
depends on artists' availability nearer the time, is announced
during the month of performance.
The 24 Hour
Plays Celebrity Gala is in aid of The Old Vic Theatre Trust and
is the chief fundraiser for Old Vic New Voices, our
entrepreneurial department which works in schools and the
community to address poverty of aspiration and supports young
emerging talent.
Since The Old
Vic receives no government subsidy, this event is vital to
enable this on-going work.
We so
appreciate your support in enabling this brilliant work to
develop by buying tickets for this event.
As well as
tickets, there are unique opportunities to bid on our silent
auction, including the chance to bid for The Golden Ticket,

usually get a few complaints about *that* picture but I don't recall
ever getting any negative feedback about the 2 pictures (below)
which I had used at various times on the Spacey Halloween poll
confirmation page. That would have been waaay back when the polls
were working, of course. It's too bad my favorite old photo program
won't work on the computer I'm using now.

Old Driving Mr. Spacey! Spacey poll trivia - The top 3 multiple
choice picks for the question "Why is Kevin afraid of Halloween?"
are:
1. He hates it when he eats all the Halloween candy he bought in September
and has to go back and buy more in October.
2. Last year when he handed out sticks of sugar-free gum, a little girl
kicked him in the shins.
3. When he was 14, he caught a bad cold waiting in a pumpkin patch for the
Great Pumpkin to appear.
And the most common write-in answer for what costume he should wear?
His birthday suit.
October 2, 2010 -
I've been reading a lot of great things about Social Network. There
have been articles in the local paper. But one thing has been
missing for the most part. References to the executive producer and
his production company.
Having said that,
you can catch an interview at the following link. Kevin was part of
IMDB's anniversary video of the day thing. Trigger Street's Dana
Brunetti is also interviewed. Thanks to Jennifer for the info.

I've started a new

I've decided to share some old Spacey things that are found
elsewhere on the site as well as some of my own reminiscences from
the years past.

September 8, 2010 - Gonna
be in London next month? I got the following info in an email this
morning (BTW, spellings are British):
Kevin Spacey,
Hollywood and theatre star, will share stories in a special
‘Audience with’ event to support Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research.
Kevin will be interviewed at the evening, hosted by Alastair
Campbell and Ed Victor. The intimate ambience of the Criterion
Theatre means the audience can put their own questions directly to
Kevin during the evening.
‘A Special Audience With Kevin Spacey’ will take place at the
Criterion Theatre on Sunday 3 October at 8pm. There are a limited
number of tickets including a champagne reception hosted by Alastair
and Ed from 6.30pm available for £120 each. Seats for the show only
are for £25, £50 or £60 depending on their location in the theatre.

Sad news. Kevin Spacey has
no interest in recording a Christmas album. I know, you're all as
devastated as I am. No CD with a cover shot of Kevin in a bulky
sweater sitting in front of a roaring fire. No accompanying DVD sold
only at Target. No singing a selection from the album on a Macy's
Thanksgiving float. No stops off at local PBS stations to showcase a
pre-recorded TV special. No Kevin Spacey Christmas Extravaganza
tickets being given away with a pledge of $500 or more. I guess
we'll just have to make do with Johnny Mathis this year.

-
Great
news! Something to look forward to. Kevin will be appearing in a
stage production of Richard III at the Brooklyn Academy of Music's
Harvey Theater in New York from February - April of 2012 followed by
a short international tour winding up at the Old Vic in May of 2012
for 4 months followed by a longer international tour. More details
will be coming later. This is very exciting news! This announcement
has been on many news and gossip sites today. Thanks Linda.
August 24, 2010 -
Kevin is
expected to be at the Toronto International Film Festival next
month. Thanks to Spacey fan Carla for the following link.
Guests at TIFF 2010
August 19, 2010 - HBO has
snapped up the developing rights for a new Triggerstreet TV show.
Which could possibly star none other than Kevin himself if all the
news blips on the web are true. It's currently called The Crux and
will be about the leader of a high-profile cult. I hope this gets
made and that Kevin will star in it.
I just noticed
this entry on the Calendar page:
TV - PBS - Kevin narrates On Record:
The Soundtrack Of Our Lives (Fall 2010)
I haven't seen
anything else about this since I originally added it to the calendar
but Fall is right around the corner. Hopefully it won't be on during
pledge week!
August 16, 2010 -
I am going insane! I've been trying to get the polls and Feedback
pages working again but so far they are resisting every attempt.
I've removed the link for the Feedback form from the Map page for
now.
I've moved some of
the news from the bottom of this page to the news archives pages.
Now this page just goes back 2 years! I'll be moving more to the
archives later.
Only 70 days until
the site will celebrate it's 10th birthday!
August 13, 2010 -
Kevin says on
Facebook today that he signed both letters. I may have to set up
side by side comparison photos and poll the readers.
August 12, 2010 -
Now
Kevin thanks his fans at Driving Mr. Spacey for the birthday card
we sent. He's a fun guy. I really need to either get my scanner
fixed or buy a new one.
Shhhh ...Don't let on
to the bear but that' doesn't look like Kevin's signature. Someone else must have signed
the letter in his place.
August 11, 2010 -
I'm loopy after having dental work so hopefully this will be
coherent. If not, I'll fix it tomorrow!
KevieBear received an exciting piece of mail. From London! It's a
thank you letter from Kevin, for the birthday card KevieBear sent to
him. As you can imagine, K-Bear is now impossible to live with and
is ignoring the fact that the signature on the letter does not look
like any Spacey signature any of us fans have ever seen before.
KBear thinks it is some kind of secret code, but hasn't figured it
out yet.

Did you catch Kevin on that AFI tribute to Mike Nichols that was on
TV last month? I thought at the time that it must be a rare occasion
these days when he finds himself to be the youngest person in the
room!
May 31, 2010
Kevin
is going to be hosting a 192nd birthday bash/fundraiser for the Old
Vic Theatre on July 1st. There will be a champagne reception,
dinner, art auction and a very special musical performance by Paul
McCartney. Fans who are too young to know why he is such an
impressive guest, he was the Justin Bieber of a 1960's singing group
called The Beatles. Big bucks will get you a premium table! Ticket
info on the Old Vic web site. Click on the pic to the left to take
you to the OV site.
Reports say that Kevin has signed to do a film called Margin Call
which will co-star Stanley Tucci, Carla Gugino and Zachary Quinto.
In
other film news, Target was selling Men Who Stare at Goats for $10
last week.
May 23, 2010
Kevin is now the voice of KAYAK as well as the voice of Honda.
Some have reported seeing his commercial while watching manly
sporting shows on ESPN. I however came across it during an episode
of Say Yes to the Dress.
Midnight
in the Garden of Good and Evil is being re-released on DVD Tuesday,
June 1st.
It appears to be a repackaging of an earlier version but this time
will be part of a Clint Eastwood collection. MGGE can be purchased
as a separate DVD though. I've seen it advertised at Amazon and
Barnes & Noble. The descriptions at both places just say that there
are subtitles, widescreen and full screen versions on the disc. The
lovely new cover is very striking though, as you can see for
yourself.
A
few weeks ago, I received in the mail, a small note card from Kevin
thanking me, his fans at Driving Mr. Spacey, the chat room fans,
KevieBear and my sister for the annual Christmas card. I posted a
tiny piece of the card at Twitpic since KevieBear was quite excited
to see part of his name in Kevin's own handwriting.
April 1. 2010
These stories get weirder and weirder. Now the Old Vic has announced
that they have taken legal action against a man who claims to be
Kevin's son. He'd been seen lurking in the park near the theater and
has tried to enter the theater while trying to catch Kevin when he
was at work. The theater spokesman said that while he does look like
Kevin, Kevin denies being even remotely related to the man and has
said he'll take him to court and force a DNA test if he doesn't
stop bothering Kevin and his friends and family. The official
statement is here.
March 30, 2010
Kevin's picture was in this morning's Washington Post newspaper and
this time they didn't use the picture of him with socialite poodle
Campari. No sirree, they used a very tiny color headshot. And it
even has his name under the picture this time!
The Washington Post, Style, page C2.
The Reliable Source by Roxanne Roberts and Amy Argetsinger
This Just In
Another long-awaited film - "Casino Jack," in which Kevin Spacey
plays disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff - has found a distributor,
Metropolitan Inc., which announced Monday that it will release the
movie in theaters this fall, Variety Reports.
(I
have just one small complaint. OK, more than one small complaint.
First, Kevin's picture is smaller than the one used of that annoying
Rod Blagojevich who is only shown because he's on Celebrity
Apprentice and second, Kevin's picture is the only one from the
paper which is not shown on the Post's online site. They have a
large picture of Jack Abramoff instead. BTW - I was going to tear
out the small item for posterity but decided that the entire page
might be worth saving. I mean, how many times are we going to see
Kevin Spacey on the same newspaper page as Kukla, Fran and Ollie? I
won't even mention that K,F & O have a much larger picture and an
entire article devoted to them.)
~
I
was reading an online article the other day that was saying that a
new Superman film was in the very early stages of pre-pre-production
but no word on whether any of the actors from the previous film,
such as say, Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor, will be asked to return to
reprise their roles. His being in Superman Returns was the only
reason I saw that one.
~
The Men Who Stare at Goats is now available on DVD and you can catch
Kevin on the "making of" type thing on it.
March 29, 2010
Kevin has taken to Twitter and Facebook to refute the odd rumors
that Kate Moss is going to be in a play at the Old Vic. This is not
a joke.
March 12, 2010
London's Apollo Theatre will play host to a
star-studded, one-off theatre show celebrating the
world's tribes.
The
evening will feature performance of tribal prose and
poetry from some of the UK and Hollywood’s leading
actors and musicians including
Kevin
Spacey,
Julie Christie, Mackenzie Crook, Sinead Cusack, Colin
Firth, Emilia Fox, Michael Gambon, Sophie Okonedo, Mark
Rylance, Danny Sapani, John Sessions, Juliet Stevenson,
Ken Stott, Zoe Wanamaker, and James Wilby. There will
also be a performance by Bruce Dickinson, Jon Lord and
Ian Paice.
This
unique theatrical event is inspired by the words and
images of tribal peoples featured in the recently
published book ‘We Are One – a celebration of tribal
peoples’ to mark the 40th anniversary of Survival
International, the world's foremost tribal rights
organization.
The event will be held on Sunday April 18th.

Thanks to Matthew of Survival International for the info.
January 17, 2010
Kevin tweeted on Twitter and posted to Facebook last night that he
has been traveling to LA, NYC, London and will be heading to China
soon.
There seems to be some question about whether he is really on
Facebook and which Kevin Spacey on Facebook he really is. Yes, he is
really on Facebook. He took over one of the fan-started Kevin
Spacey's and is now that Kevin Spacey himself.
The
real Kevin Spacey on Facebook
Watched Moon last night. I enjoyed it. The company that released it
should have had a competition to get people into the theaters to see
it when it was out. There could have been a fabulous prize for
whoever correctly guessed how many times Kevin said the word "Sam".
People would have been forced to see it more than once since they'd
have forgotten they were counting.
January 16, 2010
Wow. I can't believe how long it's been since I updated the site!
Let's see... Kevin's play ended. He went on vacation.
Moon is available on home video now. I rented it from Netflix. Gonna
watch it tonight during the chat if anyone else wants to join me.
9pm EST in the chat room. Link on the map page. Entertainment Weekly
says that Moon is probably going to become a cult classic.
I
need a fantastic new picture for the entrance page. I'll have to go
through my old magazines and find one. One of the (few) complaints
that I receive about the current one is that it doesn't look like
Kevin Spacey. I disagree. I think it does. Granted, it's a few years
old but it's not like he's not recognizable in it.
November 11, 2009
Still haven't
scanned the picture from last week and now will have to add the
artsy drawing that accompanied the review in the Washington Post on
Friday morning. The reviews have been mixed but the critic for
Entertainment Weekly said that Kevin wore the worst hairpiece of his
career in "Goats" which obviously means the critic never saw Edison.
Kevin told his Facebook followers that he quit smoking back in June.
Congratulations and good luck with that, Kevin.
November 1, 2009
There is a picture
of Kevin from the upcoming Men Who Stare at Goats in today's issue
of the Washington Post Magazine. Color pic, page 53. I do take
exception to the fact that the accompanying mini review says that
the movie stars George Clooney, Ewan McGregor and Jeff Bridges.
Kevin's name is only listed at the very bottom where it says who is
in the picture. I'll scan it later today.
I
recently noticed that I never changed the address for the polls when
I switched host companies. I'll try to fix those this week. Maybe
start a brand new poll.
October 24, 2009
Good grief, I had
no idea it had been so long since I had updated the site!
I
have been seeing TV commercials for Men Who Stare At Goats. Looks
pretty funny. Kevin looks a bit like Hitler. I am guessing that this
is part of the plot.
Kevin is currently in London performing in Inherit The Wind at the
Old Vic Theatre. Unfortunately I won't be able to go to London to
see it. Maybe he'll come back to the US and do another play here.
Tonight there will be a SHRINK movie chat at the site chat room. 9pm
or thereabouts. I don't know if we'll be doing a special Halloween
movie chat next week. Christmas seems to have come to all the stores
around here already, so maybe The Ref would be appropriate for
Halloween!
Driving Mr. Spacey! will be 9 years old on Monday. That is so hard
to believe.
August 13, 2009 -
A
few updates. We'll get to Kevin in a minute but first and more
importantly, when I got home from work last week, mixed in with the
junk mail and catalogs was an envelope addressed to me and the site.
It had been metered at the Old Vic so you know what that means.
Spacey mail!
The handwriting
was not Kevin's but I still didn't want to damage the envelope so I
opened it with a knife. Inside was a small cream colored note card
with "The Old Vic" embossed in silver in the corner and in glorious
blue ink, a handwritten message from Kevin Spacey addressed to the
fans whose names were on the annual DMS birthday card! Along with a
thank you for his unique one-of-a-kind, only one like it in the
world, secret message birthday tie. There was a paperclip
indentation at the top and, oh, you probably want to see it for
yourself. Here you go.

What a nice
surprise. The writing is an interesting mix of caps and lower case,
as someone told me. What that means I have no idea. I guess it was just
an observation.
Now on to Kevin.
SHRINK is in very limited release right now. If you can catch it in
the theater, please do. If not, it's going to be released on DVD at
the end of next month.
I'd read somewhere
that a cast addition had been made to Inherit The Wind but it hasn't
been posted on the Old Vic site yet and I can't recall the name.
Someone will no doubt remind me.

Don't forget. Kevin will be on Letterman tonight and is scheduled
for The View on Friday morning. TV listings indicate he's
advertising Shrink which opens on Friday in NY and LA.
July 9, 2009 -
Kevin is
rumored to be on Letterman on July 21. Thanks to Joanne.
Kevin's birthday
card and very special gift from the fans at Driving Mr. Spacey were
mailed to him at the Old Vic a few days ago.
June 29, 2009 -
Kevin is
now filming in New Orleans.
I will be mailing
the birthday card and very special gift on Monday. If you have sent
me your name for the card, it has already been added. If you
haven't, you have another week to do so.
June 7, 2009 -
Ten years
ago, Kevin was starring a Broadway production of The Iceman Cometh.
This caused quite a sensation among his fans and many went to see
him and then shared their experiences and photos with the rest of
the fans at the message boards, fan sites and email groups.
I had tickets to see him the night after the Tony awards (for which
he had been nominated) and we drove up to NYC on Sunday morning. You
can read all about it here:
My trip to see Iceman in 1999
I hate looking at
some of the early sections of the site. I see so many things that
need to be done over and better!
June
6, 2009 - Kevin has announced that he has withdrawn from the Tony awards
tomorrow night.
You can own one of Kevin's ties! Pictures are up and to the right!
Kevin signed and
donated an Armani tie to be auctioned for charity. You can read
about the organization and find a link to the auction here:
www.CareerGear.org
The auction ends
June 14, 2009 at 11:59pm EST.
Don't ask me why
but while some people have been able to access DMS today, others get
nothing but a blank screen and an error message saying that Driving
Mr. Spacey has been suspended. I'm trying to find out how it can be
offline and online at the same time. Could it have something to do
with DNS servers?
June 5, 2009
People tell me
that everything was *not* working as the site was offline briefly
last night. I hope this isn't going to be a recurring problem every
time I update the site!
The site link for
Kevin's upcoming Shrink movie:
http://www.shrinkthemovie.net/
The only thing
there so far is a link for viewing the trailer which requires
QuickTime 7 to view.
I've updated the
Old Vic Theatre news page with a very brief bit of info on their new
season. Link found in the black box above.
Kevin's been
golfing for his current movie role.
Golfing
I saw a commercial
on BBC America last night for a new talk show starring Jonathan
Ross. Perhaps Kevin may show up there some day in the future?
June 4, 2009 -
I moved the
site last week but was only offline for a brief time so many may not
have realized the site had been moved. Everything seems to be
working.
Kevin tweets that
there will be an announcement tomorrow about the next season for the
Old Vic. Kevin says he will be in the first play. More tomorrow! I
guess I'll have to update the OV news page. It's uh, a few years out
of date.
Kevin has been
filming a movie in Canada but will be returning to the states to
celebrate the 10 year anniversary of our summer of love. More
commonly known as "On Sunday, it will be exactly 10 years since I
went to NYC to see Kevin in Iceman and watched the Tony awards on TV
the night before."
If asked, he would
no doubt tell you that he is going to be in NYC on Sunday night to
present at the Tonys. It's all in the way you look at it!
I think CBS
usually shows the Tony awards.
You can read all
about the trip back in 1999 in the theatre section of the site.
*A bit of Spacey
trivia - Kevin celebrated his 40th birthday at the end of the Iceman
run back in 1999.
I am still adding
names to his 50th birthday greeting card, so there's still time if
anyone wants to add theirs.
May 24, 2009 -
I've decided
to wait until Tuesday to move the site. I decided a holiday weekend
might not be the best time to be dealing with problems that arise
from doing that!
Fans have asked me
how to find Kevin on Twitter. He is here:
http://twitter.com/KevinSpacey
Kevin is currently
filming Casino Jack and it has been announced that he will be doing
Catalonia with Colin Firth. I don't know when that starts filming.
May 19, 2009 -
I'm going to
be moving the site on Sunday so it will probably be off the air for
at least a few days afterwards.
This morning I was
reading Kevin's tweets from last night and I was getting annoyed.
Good thing tweets can't be long because it forced me to keep my own
tweet to KS to the point. Or to one of the points anyway! It will
probably get lost in the crush of tweets he gets but I hope he reads
it if he comes across it.
I'm going to go
mow the lawn before I get the urge to write an open letter to Kevin
right here where I'm not limited to 140 characters only!
I wanted to let
everyone who has so far sent their name in for inclusion on the
annual birthday card, that I have their names.
May 14, 2009 -
Liked
Kevin's red socks last night when he was on Leno.
May 9, 2009 -
Spacey fan
Linda tells me that she read a snippet that says Kevin has left the
William Morris Agency and will now be with Creative Artists Agency.
If this is so, the WMA address will no longer be a valid address for
writing to him.
May 6 -
Spacey fan Linda
tells me that Kevin is supposed to be on The Tonight Show w/Jay Leno
next week on the 13th. This is also showing up on TV NOW.
The Norman
Conquests have 7 nominations for the Tony Awards. Big Thanks to
Kevin himself for tweeting everyone the news.
May 2, 2008 -
KevieBear has
a new look to his web site these days. Plus I've added a new (short)
adventure there instead of to the site here.

Listen up Spacey
fans. Kevin's birthday is in less than 3 months.
April 27, 2009 -
Kevin has been
travelling around accepting various honors and awards. His trip to
the Washington, D.C. area over the weekend for one honor didn't make
the local DC paper, but there was the following snippet in today's
Washington Post, The Reliable Source columns:
HEY ISN"T
THAT...???
Kevin Spacey and a
bunch of business types lunching Saturday on the patio at Stars
restaurant on P Street, where he signed autographs and posed for
pictures. The Academy Award winner is playing Jack Abramoff in a new
biopic: he visited the convicted lobbyist Friday at Cumberland
Federal Prison.
The snippet
included a tiny b/w picture of Kevin next to a tiny picture of
Abramoff looking like Charles Grodin in a fedora.
One item I read
about the film is that it's title is to be 'Casino Jack' which is
Abramoff's nickname.
Kevin's upcoming
film 'Moon' got a brief mention in last week's Entertainment Weekly.
No picture of Kevin accompanied the mention.
April 19, 2009 -
Kevin tweets that
he's going to be on the Today show on Tuesday morning during the
8:30 hour which I presume to mean between 8:30 and 9am EST. Just a
guess on my part.
I'm going to be
making some changes to the site here and there as I have some time
in the next 6 weeks in preparation for attempting the site without
FP Extensions in June.
April 2, 2009 -
I
never thought I could hate a commercial more than those
astonishingly annoying "cavemen" commercials until I was watching TV
one night recently and was bombarded with the most grating
commercials I have ever been exposed to. They're for Comcast. You
probably already know which ones I mean. They feature people and
singing in a monotone. I kept having to mute the sound every time
one came on. And to make the torture worse, they're even on the
radio. I've been taking to turning off the car radio whenever one
comes on and changing the channel when I'm watching TV. I'm not sure
that's the effect they were going for!
Kevin tells us that he's going to be doing another film called
Father of Invention. A Triggerstreet production.
April 1, 2009 -
Announcement on
the future of Driving Mr. Spacey! - As some of you know, my web host
has informed me that as of July 1, the program that I use for the
site will no longer work with their service. I'm looking at having
to start DMS over from scratch due to the fact that the program I
use is nearly obsolete and I'm having trouble finding a new web host
that will be compatible. The site is very large and I don't know how
to use any other program so to start over would be very time
consuming. So sadly, I'm afraid that when my hosting agreement runs
out in June, that may be the end of Driving Mr. Spacey!.
It's been a fantastic run of over 8 years but things come and go and
times change. I'm sad that this all is happening just when Kevin is
having a big birthday, but hey, them's the breaks. I've been trying
to figure out what to do for his birthday this year and I have one
idea. I've put it on another page. You can check it out and let me
know what you think.

I've been out of touch because my father had a double bypass earlier
in the week but he's home now and doing very well and I've almost
got enough energy to check the site mail. Or I will until I go
outside and start shoveling all that snow we got last night and this
morning! Hope to update the site this evening.
February 21, 2009 -
It's that time of year again. Time for me to make my Oscar
predictions based on nothing due to the fact that I haven't seen any
of the movies.
Actor in a Leading Role - They'll go for either Richard Jenkins for
class and dignity or Mickey Rourke for a wild and crazy choice.
Actor in a Supporting Role - Oscar loves a dead man who gave his all
for a role so I predict the late Heath Ledger.
Actress in a Leading Role - Everyone expects it will be Kate Winslet
but I will say Melissa Leo. Am I the only one who remembers her from
Homicide: Life on the Street?
Actress in a Supporting Role - Penelope Cruz because the Academy
voters seem to like foreign actresses for this award. Amy Adams for
a surprise twist.
Best Director - Everyone says it's going to be the director for
Slumdog Millionaire so I predict the Academy voters will go for that
Benjamin Button movie that no one I know had any interest in seeing.
Best Film - See Best Director prediction.
February 17,2009 -
Boy, I can't believe how far behind the news I am already this year!
I guess I'll just have to start with new news.
Need a shrink?
If you are on Facebook, you can be a fan of Kevin's new film SHRINK.
Go here:
SHRINK
They have some nice photos of Kevin to look at there even if you
aren't a member.
*Disclaimer - I used a picture of Kevin holding KevieBear as my
Facebook photo on the suggestion of Spacey fan Laura. I am
NOT
Kevin Spacey, got it?
Complicit
In spite of some earlier problems, Kevin's new directorial effort
Complicit is on at the Old Vic.
Old schedule
page Yes, I
do know that I haven't updated the schedule page in a while. Or the
polls. I'll try to get to those this week some time.
February 14, 2009 -
Great
news for chat fans! I finally removed the Christmas music and
picture and movie chat schedule for December 13th off of the chat
entrance page! Happy Valentine's Day!
Oh! Did I mention that KevieBear has a girlfriend? I'll introduce
her to everyone in a few days.

#1
- Barcelona, Spain. February 16-20, 2009. Kevin will be appearing at
GSMA's Mobile Film Festival as festival host and keynote speaker for
the MOFILM Mobile Short Film Festival. Kevin will present the prize for the best
short film of 5 minutes or less in length and will participate in an
interview on February 19.
Chevrolet is the main sponsor but we won't tell Honda.
BTW - If you have a short film, they've extended their deadline.
More info about the festival and a cute picture of Kevin can be
found here:
http://www.mofilm.com/press.php
Thanks to Matt for
the info.
#2 - Spacey fan
Laura shares the following Charlie Rose link with us. You can watch
Kevin's old Charlie Rose interviews there. If you are a newer fan,
you have a treat in store. If you're an older, er, fan of longer
standing, they're still fun to watch again.

#3 - I don't know
if Kevin has any plans to attend the Golden Globe awards. I think
they are this coming Sunday.
