I was completely confused by the plot, so I had to watch the movie again. An again. Now it´s my favourite! I was really impressed by what I saw. He was so real. And then I rented all of his movies I could find the same week. There still are some KS-movies I have not seen, like The Working Girl. But surprisingly the have shown quite a lot of his work on Finnish TV (even Swimming with Sharks and Hostile Hostages, can you believe it) and I have managed to buy most of his movies on video. I´m about to buy a DVD soon. Damn, where on earth I can find all those films on DVD? Imagine that amount of money I have to spend... I suppose I have to buy a set that has both DVD and video in the same machine.
Still like: Just three things? Gimme a break! I can´t name just three things... Well, his skills as an actor, the versatility, his unique style. The skill to pick up good scripts and accept roles which are out of the mainstream. What else, he´s Kevin! I can´t explain! Small things, like that famous "pause", that Kevin-silence there comes when the character says something. And then of course, last but not least, he´s not a movie star, he´s an actor. How many people in Hollywood can truly say that?

What made him noticeable was: I remember after watching bits of The Usual Suspects that Verbal was a very interesting character.  The first time I saw LA Confidential I hated it.  (I confess, I was watching it because of Russell Crowe.)  I didn't like any of the characters so had no one to "root" for.  The only character that seemed to have any redeeming features died about halfway through the movie -- that's what I remembered most about the movie and Kevin -- that his character, while not even in the whole movie, had the biggest impact.
Still like: 1) The depth of the roles he chooses - they're usually layered characters who aren't strictly one thing or another.
2) The quality of the movies he chooses to associate himself with - the movies themselves have depth with all that stuff they made us learn in high school (imagery, man vs. man, man vs. nature, etc.) but somehow you don't have to LOOK for it in a Kevin Spacey movie, it just comes across to you.

What made him noticeable was: I rented the movie "Consenting Adults" because of Kevin Kline but found myself noticing Kevin Spacey.  I kept thinking, "Man this guy can act."  I watched the credits to see who this guy was.  His name didn't ring a bell and I never seemed to remember it.  Kevin kept turning up in movies and I kept telling myself "Man this guy can act."  I would do the same thing everytime, read the credits.  "Oh, that guy."  But still his name never stuck with me till I watched "Seven".  I missed it at the theatre so I rented it.  I found myself standing straight up and pointing at the television and shouting "Kevin Spacey."  I was hooked after that.

Since then I have come to admire Mr. Spacey for more than his acting ability.  I admire him for his intelligence and wit which shines through in every interview and article I have seen and read.  His charitableness is another good reason to admire this man.  I think this shows he is more than just another big name actor.  It shows he is a humanitarian and an everyday guy with a heart.

What made him noticeable was: The way he moved; the fact that he took a character that could have been so predictable and added so much depth to him that I couldn't help but be surprised.  And the fact that he was the scariest psychopath I've ever encountered in a film and he didn't do a violent thing on camera.  Unless you have a problem with dunking tea bags...
Still like: 1.The guy can ACT!!!He doesn't allow himself to become typecast or predicable.  And he's virtually unrecognizable in every movie. ~ 2.  He performs well in movies that are, well, bad.  (Pay It Forward, Iron Will are two examples) ~ 3. Those dimples and that clefted chin.  Need I say more?
