Some of Kevin's biggest fans were lucky enough to be at the barriers to see him, get autographs and take pictures. And found themselves on TV the next day during news coverage of the event. Here is one fan's story of his exciting evening:
K-PAX premier
by David, October 23, 2001I went to the Premier of K-PAX on October 22nd, and it was the most amazing day of my life. I took almost an entire role of film on Kevin Spacey. Okay so I was standing behind the E! Entertainment platform, where they do their interviews, there were three platforms in all, and Kevin was the last celebrity to show.
From stopping on all the platforms and report in between, it took him a little over 30 minutes to get where we (my sister and I) were. But it was worth it, he was being interviewed and out of nowhere a bunch of people screamed his name out really loud, he laughed and said well you guys didn't just interrupt the interview. He later jokingly accused that group of drinking.
So he jumped down in our area and started signing and shaking people's hands, and I didn't have anything to sign so I stuck out my eager hand and he shook it! YAAY! Okay I am still floating from this excuse me... The cool thing was, he was the only person that was on the E! platform to actually go down and sort of meet the fans.
Kevin Spacey is amazing.

A small group of fans crowded against the metal railings outside a theater, chanting, "Ke-vin, Ke-vin." And after a couple of hours in the cold, their wish came true.
Kevin Spacey strolled down the carpet, taking time to sign autographs and shake hands before the premiere of "K-PAX" at the Mann Village Westwood on Monday.
A TV camerawoman noted that the atmosphere was "eerie, like quiet before the storm." Jeff Bridges, who also stars in the movie, agreed. "It's a little strange," he said. "It feels like a David Lynch movie." "K-PAX" isn't a Lynch movie, but it does feature Spacey as a mental patient who might or might not be an extraterrestrial.
"I always thought it was possible," Spacey said of life on other planets. "There's a certain arrogance in thinking you're the only intelligent life."
Bridges, who received an Oscar nomination for his portrayal of an alien in the 1984 film "Starman," didn't seem convinced. "Maybe we're the only game in town," he said.
Charlize Theron, who doesn't appear in the film, marched away from the ogling press in her tight leather skirt with Larry King hot on her heels. King also opted for leather. Fortunately, he chose a jacket, not a skirt.http://latimes.com/features/lifestyle/la-000084578oct24.story?coll=la%2Dheadlines%2Dliving

At last night's K-Pax premiere in Los Angeles, Kevin Spacey spoke about
new security measures for handling mail sent to him:
"We've just decided we're just not going to answer fan mail for a while. And anything that comes from anyplace we don't know where it's coming from is being returned and it doesn't matter where it comes from. It's just important because there seems to be a randomness to this and until we really pinpoint where it's coming from and how to solve it, it's just important to be safe for everybody in our lives."
And there was this about possible "Oscar buzz":"It's been very, you know, very nice that people are saying - I don't know who those people are, other than the studio - you know at this early stage so that I think is a whole bunch of hype...and I just don't respond all that well to that. So, I just - go see the movie and judge for yourself!"
